THE HISTORY OF KNITWEAR

Knitwear is an art with ancient origins, strongly linked to the Italian tradition yet which continues to prove its timelessness to the present day. Only thanks to Italy’s manufacturing experience in yarn processing was it possible to develop specific techniques for each type of yarn. By availing of the knowledge gained, attention to detail and the choice of quality materials, came the best tailor-made knitwear there is, being recognised all over the world.

The award-winning authenticity of Made in Italy extends from the quality of the initial product to the study of techniques, achieving the desired result both in terms of worth and durability.

Attention to detail is one of the central aspects of the entire process. In fact, the product is curated by expert and competent personnel from its raw state through to the sales phase.

"AIM FOR LUXURY COMFORT"

The ‘rules’ on menswear have changed throughout the years.
Today, a Maurizio Baldassari knitted jacket can be paired with a suit. Alternatively, the MB jacket can be worn for an elegant yet unconventional look. Combined with a jersey shirt or a T-shirt and drawstrings trousers, it creates a new upper-casual look.

Such styling helps strip away the business–like connotations of the suit and gives off a contemporary look.

MOULINÈ COLORS

Moulinè is a yarn obtained by coupling two threads in different shades.

The name “mouliné” is inspired by from the watermills where the raw silk threads were twisted to obtain the embroidery yarn. Subsequently, the term was extended to threads of a different nature.

FULLY-FASHIONED KNITTING

The technique known as “fully–fashioned” involves the use of knitting machines to create the knitted components in their definitive shape.

Indeed, each segment is created in exactly the right size to form the garment.

Using machines in this manner is not the same as a merely industrial production but involves an artistry that sees the machines being handled by expert and specialised staff who adjust the machines in order to obtain the exact result for each individual piece.

PEOPLE AND CRAFTSMANSHIP

Skilled personnel ensures the desired result can be achieved.

Our knitting experts know how to perfectly adjust the machines to the conditions and how to manage every single aspect to guarantee the best operation of the machines themselves.

The fundamental ingredient is thus people’s experience and technical ability.

Craftman hands on fabric

This is the value of Italian labour and Made in Italy products, where people’s skills are not replaced by machines but rather enhances knowledge and ensures its transmission to new generations.

PRECIOUS YARNS

Maurizio Baldassari uses a wide variety of winter and summer compositions in the Knitted and Knitwear Jackets collection, favouring blends of precious fibres, be it merino, cashmere, cotton, linen or very fine silk for summer.
