THE SHEARING PROCESS

Cashmere goats have a rough and thick upper fleece and a soft, fluffy lower fleece, the duvet.

Cashmere wool is obtained by combing the lower fleece with a special hooked comb. The finest part of the hair is collected and removed. This is repeated several times; the result is a mixed duvet which will be further selected and the best fibres chosen.

After thorough selection the fibres are then washed.

They are not dyed but are chosen according to their original hue, thus giving a totally natural product.

Maurizio Baldassari felt cashmere garments are created with an in-house technique. After long experimentation, a process of different phases was developed, during which the delicate Loro Piana Cashmere yarns are washed and felted.

Maurizio Baldassari starts from the yarn, which is knitted by the best knitters and then moves on to the felting process which is done with water and ecological softeners.

Only thanks to the centenary experience of Biella finishing this type of re- sult can be obtained. These are exclusive techniques that make the knit a real fabric that can then be worked and cut and sewn by the best craftsmen.

The Maurizio Baldassari Cashmere Felt therefore has the softness of a sweater and the performance of a fabric. An extremely difficult result to achieve.
